Building Trust & Community: Insights from the AD 25 Immigration Town Hall

At Smart City CA USA (.org), we believe that a truly smart and sustainable city is one built on trust, equity, and the empowerment of all its residents. Richard Wong, a leader within our organization, recently attended a profoundly inspirational meeting that reinforced these very principles: the AD 25 Immigration Town Hall and Resource Fair.

The event, held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the Mexican Heritage Plaza in San Jose, brought together community members and key political figures to discuss vital issues surrounding immigration. Richard reported that the meeting was “very inspirational,” highlighting the critical importance of direct engagement and transparent dialogue.

A significant outcome of the Town Hall was the secured commitment from Assemblymember Ash Kalra and County Supervisor Betty Duong. Both leaders pledged to ensure trust within the community regarding AD 25 immigration matters. This commitment is a powerful step towards fostering an environment where all residents feel secure, understood, and included.

The Town Hall also featured a valuable Resource Fair, offering “Know Your Rights” information, local resources, and an Immigration Legal Clinic. These elements are crucial for empowering individuals and ensuring access to essential services and information.

At Smart City CA USA, we recognize that digital transformation and smart city initiatives must go hand-in-hand with social equity and community well-being. Events like the AD 25 Immigration Town Hall are vital demonstrations of how leaders can actively engage with their constituents to build stronger, more cohesive, and trusting communities. The commitment from Assemblymember Kalra and Supervisor Duong is a testament to their dedication to these values.

We commend Assemblymember Ash Kalra and County Supervisor Betty Duong for their leadership and commitment to fostering trust and support within the AD 25 community. Smart City CA USA remains dedicated to supporting initiatives that bridge gaps and build a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future for all Bay Area residents.
